KOMOREBI:
"WHEN LIGHTS FILTER THROUGH TREES"
DORIAN CHEN & DESIREE MA
Komorebi speaks to the two objectives that our design hopes to address. Trees on the one hand is a part of nature, something integral to our housing. On the other, trees have been a figure of communal gathering, a site where people feel free to go anytime, and on any day despite their social, cultural, racial and sexual identities, which can belong to anyone.
In metropolitan places like New York City where everyday lives are fast-paced, parks and gardens are places where people can seek for an escape and find comfort and relaxation. Greenery is seen as a luxury and we are bringing that luxury into our residents’ everyday lives.
